Motivation Letter for Masters in History

    Dear Sir/Madam

My name is ——————- and i am from Pakistan and I have done BA (Honours) History  from the ————————-University in Pakistan. I am writing to request you please consider me for Admission in Master in Public History at University of Wroclaw, Poland. While I have enclosed the completed application and additional materials required by the university.

I have done BA (Honours) in History. It has enabled me, how narratives are created. Over the course of the programme, I am able to probe issues such as: What are the extant sources on which we base a claim to knowledge? Where is this information archived? Is there more than one way of reading a historical document? Do different readings contribute to multiple discourses? Are these discourses complementary or irreconcilable?

I have explored wide range of courses across a range of historical time periods, geographical regions, and approaches during four years at University. I have used the latest and most appropriate pedagogical techniques to focus on reading, analysis, and debate and discussion to read historical documents and become attuned to the process of narrative construction. Besides a broad-based knowledge of the past, I have read seminal historical texts. I am knowledgeable about important scholarly contributions in my area of specialisation. I have developed the skill to read carefully, and be able to argue both orally and in writing with power and conviction.

As public history graduate, I will have knowledge about the ways the knowledge about the past is present in the public sphere and the methods of influencing those ways. I will be able to collect, preserve, process and promote the heritage of the past in a conscious and competent way.

As student of History, I would also be cognisant that the discipline requires patience, rigour, and great attention to detail before any substantive claim to knowledge can be made. Appreciation of History inculcates a life-long love for learning that contributes to our individual and collective selves in ways that are impossible to quantify. I consider myself a suitable candidate for admission in Masters in History. While, I would wait for a positive response from you. I would like to say thank you for your precious time.

    Sincerely,
