Vardagsrummet (Living Room)

Mitt favoritrum är Vardagsrummet. – My favorite room is the Living Room.

I vardagsrummet kopplar jag av och tittar på TV. (In the living room, I relax and watch TV.)

Vardagsrummet är mysigt med en öppen spis. (The living room is cozy with a fireplace.)

Vi har en stor soffa i vardagsrummet. (We have a large sofa in the living room.)

Sovrummet (Sleep Room)

Jag har en säng, ett nattduksbord och en garderob i sovrummet. (In the bedroom, I have a bed, a nightstand, and a wardrobe.)

Mitt sovrum är ljust och luftigt. (My bedroom is bright and airy.)

Köket (Kitchen)

I köket lagar jag mat. (I cook food in the kitchen.)

Köket är hjärtat i huset. (The kitchen is the heart of the house.)

Vi har ett stort köksbord där vi äter tillsammans. (We have a large kitchen table where we eat together.)

I köket bakar jag kakor. (In the kitchen, I bake cookies.)

Köket är modernt och välutrustat. (The kitchen is modern and well-equipped.)

I köket har jag en modern kaffebryggare. (In the kitchen, I have a modern coffee maker.)

Badrummet (Bathroom)

I badrummet duschar jag. (I shower in the bathroom.)

Hallen (Hallway/Entrance)

Hallen är det första man ser när man kommer in. (The hallway is the first thing you see when you enter.)

Hallen leder till de andra rummen. (The hallway leads to the other rooms.)

Källaren (Basement)

Källaren är stor och rymlig. (The basement is big and spacious.)

Vi har en tvättstuga i källaren. (We have a laundry room in the basement.)

Källaren är sval på sommaren. (The basement is cool in the summer.)

Vi har ett förråd i källaren. (We have a storage room in the basement.)

Ni har en ganska stor källare. (You have a rather large basement.)

Toaletten (Toilet/Restroom)

Toaletten är där borta. (The toilet is over there.)

Toaletten är ren och fräsch. (The toilet is clean and fresh.)

Vind (Attic)

The word “attic” is derived from the Attica region of Greece and comes from Attic style architecture. The term referred to “a low decorative façade above the main story of a building” and, as used in the phrase “attic order”, had originally indicated a small decorative column above a building’s main façade.

Vinden är stor och rymlig. (The attic is big and spacious.)

Din Vinden är liten och trång. (Your attic is small and cramped.)

Vinden är mörk och läskig. (The attic is dark and scary.)

Jag rensar ut på vinden. (I’m cleaning out the attic.)

Vinden är ljus och luftig. (The attic is bright and airy.) (This might be rare!)

Jag har hittat en gammal kista på vinden! (I’ve found an old chest in the attic!)

Matsalen (Dining Room)

Matsalen är ljus och luftig. (The dining room is bright and airy.)

Din Matsalen är mysig och varm. (Your dining room is cozy and warm.)

Matsalen är elegant och formell. (The dining room is elegant and formal.)

Hans Matsalen har stora fönster. (His dining room has large windows.)

Vår Matsalen har en vacker utsikt. (Our dining room has a beautiful view.)

Vi äter middag/lunch/frukost i matsalen. (We eat dinner/lunch/breakfast in the dining room.)
