What is Application Process for a University in Sweden?

Sweden is unique in terms of the Application Process. Applicant needs to submit only one Application on universityadmissions.se.This means that you can apply for courses and programs at all universities through the same application.

It is a very convenient electronic application Process. Create a user account on universityadmissions.se and search for courses and programs. Your file would be under consideration after you pay an application fee. You do not need to pay the application fee for every university to which you apply.

Upload all required documents and all universities can see your documents at one plate form. Follow your application and check it regularly. Once you would get selected, You will Receive an admission letter and print out your Notification of Selection Results. Sign this admission letter and attach other documents.

Get an appointment in the Swedish embassy for an interview. Once you clear the interview, you can fly to Sweden to study your desired course.

For  admission in Short Language Course

So, General entry requirements for short language courses are as follows:

International students can get admission in English language courses with a minimum of 12 years of education. Students should be able to demonstrate basic proficiency in English. Students should mention bachelor’s degree courses for the future during the application process of short language courses. 

For Admission in Bachelor’s Degree Course

Bachelor’s level is the first cycle in Sweden. It is also ‘undergraduate’. In Sweden, there is a wide range of courses available at this level. These courses and programmes are taught in English. A student must have completed upper secondary studies in order to be qualified for study at this level.

For Bachelor Programs and short courses, the student can apply up to 8 different courses in different universities. While, You can rank the courses according to your preferences. The course ranked number one, is for selection by a specific university.

So, If you are selected in the first ranked course, the other courses are not considered automatically. If you do not get selected in the high-ranked course, then you would be considered for the very next course in ranking and so on.

Students should have passed 12 years ( Secondary High School) education. While, A student can get admission in a bachelor’s course with a moderate percentage in grades of the previous degree. The percentage should not be less than 45% marks when you complete your 12-year education. The gap in studies is acceptable in Sweden for up to 5 to 6 years. 

Required Documents for Bachelor’s degree admissions:

  • Officially issued & tested Secondary School Certificate (ISSC) & Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC).
  • Statement of marks or other official transcript.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) & Motivation Letter.
  • One Academic reference & one personal reference letter.
  • IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Payment Proof of University Tuition Fees.

For Admission in Master’s Degree Course

Master’s level is the second cycle in Sweden. The term ‘graduate-level is also used. Universities in Sweden offer a large range of international master’s programmes where the language of instruction is English.

So, For Master Programs the student can apply up to 4 different courses in different universities. While, You can rank the courses according to your preferences. The course ranked number one is for selection by a specific university.

To meet the general entry requirements for master’s level studies, the student must have 16 years of education from a university in his/her homeland. That means you should have Bachelor’s degree in hand to get admission to a master’s degree. The percentage should not be less than 45% marks when you complete your 16-year education. While, The gap in studies is acceptable in Sweden for up to 5 to 6 years.

What are language requirements for a Swedish university?

Students should have a 5.5 IELTS score to get admission to a Short course. So, After completing a short language course, students can apply for a bachelor’s degree course.

While, Students should have a 6 IELTS score to get admission to Bachelor’s degree course in any Swedish University.
