Motivation Letter Example Student Applying to a Master’s in English

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to you to apply for the Master’s Degree in English in which I am particularly interested in. My aim is to gain more knowledge and become more efficient. The University of Debrecen is the best opportunity ever for me and my future career and therefore I am sure that will help me to complete my strong desire that is to become an effective professor and having superior knowledge.

I have done BA (Honours) English programme from ……. University, Lahore, Pakistan. I had access to excellent teaching on Greek, British, American and world Anglophone literature with a view to training in methods of contextual reading, critical thinking and writing. The programme put particular emphasis on the historical, social and political conditions surrounding literary production and reception. By honing skills in critical thinking and rhetorical analysis, the BA (Honours) English helped me compelling writing of my own. The craft of research, scholastic writing and knowledge of the great intellectual debates on literary criticism are distinguishing features of the English major, I learned in four years learning period. I have acquired multiple valuable skills such as communication, analysis, synthesis, problem-solving, and evaluation which apply to numerous professional fields.

My goal of the MA in English Studies is full mastery of the English language, possession of extensive and in-depth knowledge of the language, culture and history of English-speaking countries. This Programme would make me a specialist and fully capable of undertaking independent and original investigations in a wide range of topics. As a highly educated expert, I will become a player in the social and cultural field occupying positions where my views will in fact influence a number of people. I would be capable of applying and developing the skills acquired here in areas as diverse as international relations, tourism, the press and the media, business, publishing, municipal and national administration, the political and diplomatic spheres in cultural life and, of course, in the academic field.

Lastly, I would like to say, that the MA in English Course at the University of Debrecen is quite relevant to my previous studies.
