The Richard Plaschka fellowship named after the Austrian historian who worked at the University of Vienna as a University Professor. Scholarships are awarded to young university lecturers of history. Applicants should have interest in Austrian history.  

Who Can Apply?

University lecturers of all countries can apply for research periods in Austria. It is mandatory for applicants to get in contact with the research institution of their choice in Austria before applying for this grant.

Highly qualified researchers in the field of history are preferred during the selection process.

Recipients of Plaschka grants can work as visiting researchers at university departments and carry out research in libraries, archives or at research institutions.

Grants are awarded for 4 to 18 months. It is possible to extend the grant for up to 18 months following a positive evaluation during research process.

Benefits of Richard Plaschka

A monthly grant is 1040 Euros. 

Travel costs  include 730 Euros.

Monthly book allowance is 93 Euros.

Richard Plaschka Scholarships cover Tuition fee. 


Deadline to apply for this fellowship is March 1st and September 15th each year.
